that's actually queen anne's lace, not gypsophilia thouhg :-D
flygirl, thanks for the correction--i was just going on the label at the market, which was "gipsy". it looks a little like the covent garden variety of gypsophila, but very much more like queen anne's lace.
my gypsophilia experience sounds more limited than yours :-) but yes, they are unusually tight umbels.
that sounds wrong, somehow.
