questions of curiosity.

people tend to want to break up with significant others in public spaces, usually restaurants, because supposedly you'd have less of a scene and it's neutral territory. if you were breaking up with someone in los angeles, where would it be? what restaurant and why? would you end on a high note and go someplace nice, would you go somewhere familiar because it would be easier, or would you go someplace loud so if there's a scene, no one will notice?

on the other hand, if you think you were going to be told to shove off, what restaurant would you like to be in for that final interaction? personally, i'm not sure if a fast food restaurant would be a good place, but i'm thinking it might be appropos. and put you off eating junk food anyway, so it could be a good thing.

tg, more like insomnia making me read through a book on the nightstand. someone had to pick a restaurant to give their former loved one the axe. she picked an anonymous bistro where there weren't too many memories. it got me thinking, what would i do? and if i got the shove off in a favourite restaurant, would i be pissed at my ex for ruining it for me? where would you give the heave ho to someone? at home or in a public space?

i might have to kill any man who would ruin a favourite restaurant like that. then again, if that restaurant was a haunt during the coupledom, i wouldn't go back anyway...

that probably explains why i haven't been to damiano's mr. pizza and eat-a-pita in so long. i don't know what i'd do if i really, really, really liked the food at a place with a lot of coupledom memories. eh. takeaway. and change my usuals to something else on the menu.

is there any restaurant you'd have to keep in your repertoire, no matter what? (anywhere in the world)

i don't know what i would pick but i was at vitello's last night and the couple in the booth behind me were totally getting into it. i didn't exactly evesdrop but i heard her sobbing and saying things like "Then why did you pull your hand away?" and "Why her?"

I am pretty sure that being broken up with in vitello's is a really bad sign. but maybe, if you wanted to send a very disturbing message to your ex-partner, this would be the way to go.

ren, omg, i didn't even think of the implications of taking your intended ex to an infamous spot! mezzaluna's gone, i think, so vitello's would really be "the" place to give an ominous vibe to the proceedings. also, wow, i don't think i've ever eavesdropped on a couple breaking up before--i have eavesdropped on a few couples that judging by the complete inanity/hostility/incompatibility of their conversations, perhaps they *should* break up.

(laughing) thanks for sharing!
