*gasp*

Santos, you have an LA blog!

*excitement*

I go to the Farmers' Market all the time! (Well... in grad-student time that comes out to be about once a month, but still.)

hi wonderbread (great name btw)

i wish i had read that article. i love this house. i see their hummer at one of the ralph's on third all the time, it's got a crazy sunset sort of paint job. i knew somebody who knew the president of the hancock park homeowners association, and even the president had to hand it to the guy--aesthetically it may have gone against the rest of the neighbourhood, but it is a really well-kept house and facade.

hi satsumabug--yes, an la blog! i go back once or twice a year and take a lot of photos, so i manage to eke out a few entries even when i'm not there--so you get to the farmer's market more than i do :-)

That house is a hoot. Check it out right around Christmas; it's insane. Someone once told me Sir Mix-a-lot lived there but I don't think so. I'm guessing it's more like a flamboyant fashion designer or something.

Hi Santos! I passed by that house yesterday as I was coming home from the Farmers' Market. It's on Third Street too! The house is one block west of Rossmore.

hi anon--i think it's a record company guy, or music guy anyway. the suv in front has the name of company on it.

hi bhr--unusual is right!

hi joyce--thanks for the correct address! i always forget to check the cross street, i'm always staring at the house!

I met and interviewed the owner and his nephew a few years back when I was trying to put together a piece on outrageous xmas lights in LA for a London newspaper. The guy is kinda odd. Pecs so developed I wasn't sure if he was trans-sexual (not joking) and piercing blue eyes that are a little spooky - I think they're contact lenses. Yes, he said he's a music producer. I love how the decor's all white but they have the matching colour-gradated orange cars out front. The nephew was cleaning them and kinda manning the base. I have photos of them somewhere and I think even a recorded interview.

hi lisa--*wow*. wow to the outrageous christmas lights (did that get published, btw?) and to the interview with the hancock park house owner. if you ever should publish the piece or the photos, please come back and let me know. i love this little piece of defiance in the HP.

the house belongs to a guy named norwood young, a rapper-cum-music exec who does indeed have quite eccentric tastes. one weekend, his neighbors came back from a ski trip only to find not one, not two, but a dozen "david" statues adorning his yard. they tried in vain to have them removed, but norwood prevailed.

during the holidays, 2 black mr. & mrs. claus mannequins rest upon lawn chairs on a blanket of fake snow.

his stable of vehicles is always painted in a graduated orange/flame motif, a stark contrast to the utter white whiteness of the house and the grounds.

i met him once, while jogging through the neighborhood, he seemed to be a decent fellow....

His name is Norwood Young.

Yes, his name is Norwood Young. I've been watching him on this show, "High maintanence, 90210" Anyhow, my girlfriend went to a party at his house, and all of these people in the record business knew him, but no one knew what he actually did....????????? Hmmmm...party favor dealer to the record business maybe? She got that vibe from him.

I was just watching this guy on E! and he's definetly pretty weird. His poodles are died pink and blue and he's got huge pictures of himself everywhere, including the bottom of the pool. It said he was a Record Producer and Recording Artist, and I'm like what the f*ck kinda of music is this guy producing? So I searched Google and couldn't find any real info about anything he's produced. I think the last poster may have something.

Moesha's Brother!!! Dude...this guy is some pent up relitive that cant get his own gig...... he is headed for a rough life if he doesn't settle down....

really? brandy's brother? i thought she only had a younger brother named rj or something.

god, i know way too much about brandy. moesha 4eva!

Dealer would be my bet. If you've produced records, you've got recrdds to point to. This guy hasn't got his name on one album in the RIAA database, let alone an RIAA certified platinum album that might buy a house. Also, in case we've forgotten: a real producer wouldn't be on an E reality show.

This guy norwood young is very strange and out there, and Id like to know the music he produced? Although I do know he has a charity he runs called feed his children or somthing like that, anyway he had a huge party in 2006 and lots of older and somewhat washed up celebrities were there, such as Jackie Harry and b class celebrities, so I figure this guy is from the 80,s era. He looks as if hes had lots of plastic surgery done as well. He kinda freaks me out a bit, oh well just another reality tv star who is looking for his 15 minutes of fame.

He actually did record a song, although I have forgotten the title. He has a great voice. He looked quite different last I saw him in the 80's. He was much larger in his build and wore a long ponytail. He has had much surgery, and his body looks amazing...with clothes on anyway...

...And by the by...he is not the brother of Brandy. Brandy's last name is Norwood. Norwood's last name is Young.

I had never even heard of Norwood Young until I started watching him on High Maintenance 90210. I think the house and the naked statues and the blue and pink dogs are all alittle strange. Even more strange is he's obviously wealthy but how come no one seems to know any of his work and like me, haven't even heard of him or this house until that show started? And shouldn't the animal cruelty people stop him from dying his DOGS? Who is he, where did he come from, what does he do and is he the original owner of the house or was that someone else's bright or should I say "white" idea. He seems strange but ---- to each his own.

He's actually quite successful- I met him years ago here in Jersey where he's from- his sister is an attorney and is married to former basketball player Jason Williams. he has a website with his bio, pics, etc.- www.justnorwoodmusic.com. it talks about the statues and everything.

HE DOESN"T EXIST! No one heard of him before 2 months ago--not even him: the website was created in December 2006. THe show must be a mock-reality show.

He used to sing in an R&B group named "Pieces of a Dream". He's actually an incredibly talented singer.
